In the savage world of hired guns, Malakai is a legend, a god, a trigger-puller without peer. His childhood innocence twisted by an abusive father, blood and bullets have become his religion. He sells his lethal skills to the Company, the quintessential lone wolf assassin.
When Malakai is contracted to stop a powerful Japanese crime syndicate from blackmailing the chairperson of the Senate Intelligence Committee, he discovers someone is playing Judas and he needs to figure out who it is before he gets burned.
As the chaos and carnage escalate, his life gets complicated by the arrival of a mysterious woman who may have even more scars on her soul than he does. But is she really who she says she is? With betrayal all around him, Malakai knows one wrong move could cost him his life.
When the Syndicate hires a pair of ruthless assassins to hunt him down, Malakai knows the only way to survive is to fight fire with hellfire. In a scorched earth showdown, he’ll take the war right into the black heart of the Syndicate and as the bullets blaze, discover what truly matters most.

The Assassin’s Betrayal is one of the more violent and well-written books I’ve read in a long time. Hit man Malakai is a freelance operative for The Company, a shadowy, secret organization. He gets his assignments from Father Thomas, a lusty, earthy former priest harboring his own dark secrets. The action is continuous without feeling forced.Several things stood out to me:
-There’s a lot of quiet humor and some great one-liners between characters
-In the sex scenes between Malakai and the lovely Shiomi the author chose to not be too graphic or detailed which enhances the erotic nature of the experience. Well done!
-The author did not take the easy way out with favorite characters, even at the end when I hoped he would, then was glad he didn’t.
The Assassin’s Betrayal is a fast-paced story full various types of violence, humor, some great characters and well-placed twists.
There’s also a darkness that Father Thomas sums up perfectly: “Take it from me, the grace of God is overrated.”

THE ASSASSIN'S BETRAYAL edition by Mark Allen Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I've read a few of Mark Allen's books, and while I've enjoyed them well enough, they never quite lined up with my tastes 100%. However, I burned through this book in a single day, staying up past one in the morning to finish it because I just couldn't put it down (no, seriously, getting up the next morning wasn't easy). An absolute page-turner in the truest sense of the term, so if you like guns-blazing action novels, check it out.
Here's a book that will grab you from the opening lines, and after that, the pace never stops. It's a rocket ship of a thrill ride that will make you remember why you love action stories, with crisp writing and terrific characterization and a lot of soul-searching (which, honestly, got a little melodramatic--but the blood spatter makes up for it!) that makes Malakai more than a cookie-cutter Charles Bronson. We look forward to more of the same from Mark, who's been delivering the good for a while with no sign of stopping, and that's a very good thing.
This guy's a world class assassin? Give. Me. A. Break. Sophomoric plotting and one dimensional characters. Suspending disbelief is necessary when reading this genre, but in this book the author insults our intelligence.
Good reading, very enjoyable
I enjoyed this book even more than the first one! I was hooked from the very first page! Definitely a must read!
What a great book! It has Mark's gore, bit he also includes a love stroy, some unexpected twists, and his great, demented, sense of humor. I can't wait to read the next book!
Once again, Mark outdoes himself with this fast-paced thriller. I found out the true meaning of a "page-turner". Once I opened it, I could not put it down until the last page was turned. This book is an absolute must read. I look forward to the next Assassin installment.
